TABNAK, Oct, 15: He was present in the ceremony after rumors and false reports circulated by by anti-Iran media claiming that he was killed in Israeli airstrikes near Iranian embassy in Damascus on October 9.
General Nilforoushan’s comrades-in-arm, members of his family, officials and military commanders were present in the funeral ceremony.
The body of General Nilforoushan, the supreme advisor of the Islamic Republic to Lebanon, returned home more than two weeks after he was assassinated by the Israeli regime in the Arab country along with Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf had dismissed the rumors about assassination of General Qaani and reassured about the Quds Force commander’s good conditions.
Moreover, the deputy commander for coordination of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Iraj Masjedi has already said that, “Commander Qaani is in perfect health.”
On October 1st, the IRGC launched a volley of hypersonic ballistic missiles at Israeli military targets in the occupied Palestinian territories in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Nasrallah and Nilforoushan in Beirut.
On January 3, 2020, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei appointed Esmail Qaani as the new head of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force following the US assassination of Major General Qassem Soleimani.
In the statement, the Leader described Gen. Qaani as one of the IRGC's most prominent commanders during Saddam's imposed war on Iran, which lasted eight years starting in 1980.
Qaani was serving as the Quds Force's deputy commander prior to his appointment to direct the elite force.
